About
WE HAVE FUN HERE
Filomena Jack holds a BFA from Jersey City University where she focused on photography and sculpture. After college Filomena worked as a corporate software trainer in NYC. There she fell in love with using creativity to teach skills to various audiences. Filomena has run a number of small businesses including a quilt shop and wedding photography business. She now paints large murals, portraits of pets, and lots and lots of flowers. She has had solo painting exhibitions in Corning; at Community Arts of Elmira; and at the Gmeiner in Wellsboro, PA. She teaches various creative classes in our local libraries and community centers. Filomena holds certifications in personal development and therapeutic hypnosis and helps clients reach their goals using humor and creative thinking. Filomena’s first self published art book: “Bunzie’s Bundalas” is available on Amazon. Filomena lives with your handsome husband and sweet dog in Elmira.
Filomena is available for live sketching at weddings and other events.

Murals make me happy!
Here I am in front of the completed Dragonfly Love, painted in Elmira NY, 2020.
I've created bunches of murals (some as big as 3,000 sq ft!) and teach to a variety of audiences both live and on line.
I LOVE MY JOB!
My paintings are made up of literal and metaphorical layers. Most paintings are created in acrylic and ink. Each new painting begins by me wiping the extraneous paint (used in my focus work) off my brushes and pallets onto new substrates. In this way the “DNA” of every painting lives in every other painting in my collection. I allow layers of paint, ink, and sometimes acrylic skins to collect on a canvas or panel until I am ready to begin a focused painting incorporating these surprising backgrounds.
When working en Plein Air, I paint not just what I see, but I also indicate the sounds, smells, breezes, and passing shadows around me. I take what I can see in 180 degrees and make everything fit onto my work surface, often stacking and layering components. I think of these as “Jazzy Plein Air” studies. They make me happy!
I am passionate about art and its history. I love what I do and am grateful every day to be part of the creative world. My goal is to lift people’s spirits, create beauty, and to engage with the world with an open heart.
With much gratitude,
Filomena
